Tower Theater, Broadway Theater District, Downtown Los Angeles, March 2014

The Tower Theater is located at 802 S. Broadway in the Broadway Theater District of downtown Los Angeles. Commissioned by H. L. Gumbiner and designed by S. Charles Lee, the  theater opened in 1927 with a showing of the silent film ” The Gingham Girl.” The theater was the first in Los Angeles to be wired for sound and was the site of the Los Angeles premiere of part-talking “The Jazz Singer” starring Al Jolson.
